A Gospel of Fierce, Liberating Love: Mildred Reyes Reflects

Mildred shares her experience of being present, “under the pulpit” for the Inaugural Prayer Service at Washington National Cathedral and Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde’s sermon.  It was a moment – she relates – where “I felt the cost of discipleship…one of those moments that reminds you why formation matters, why leaders need courage, grounding and a heart shaped by the Gospel.” 

Mildred also relates the roots of her calling – in her parents who prayed “not in stain-glassed sanctuaries but while cleaning kitchens, fixing faucets, and sweeping floors,” whose faith taught her the power of a gospel – not based in fear but in fierce, liberating love.” She shares her gratitude for contributors that enable ministers who “listen deeply, who speak truth with tenderness and to walk with communities that long for hope.”
